Here's an odd thing - why does committing oneself to writing a shedload of fiction every week make blogging that much easier? I'm already over this week's wordcount, plus I've written posts for Forces of Geek, the new SFFE, SF Signal's forthcoming Mind Meld and (finally) for my own main blog.
The last of these is about the amazing Mister Rothfuss - better late than never, I guess - and the rest of them will come to light in due time.
My MacBook is SMOKIN'!!

And so I find myself, for the first time since Uni, having to produce word count to deadline.
Say what?!
No, not random blogging as-the-mood-takes-me, not the idle thoughts I sling about in here, not even my sporadic Khamsinic splutterings...
...but actual focus - proper articles, researched, written, edited and presented to a new sf/f fansite launching on the first Monday of January. I'm sure it's 'good for me', or something.
Has to be said, though, I am writing about art toys, urban vinyl, the new 3D design phenomenon that's riding the Manga invasion to fill the shelves of Forbidden Planet. Hell, I collect it, I should be able to write about. Two articles a month - and I get to talk about toys?
That has to be better than analysing Heart of sodding Darkness!

I have this problem with blogging.
No shortage of ideas, I have a notebook stuffed with them and a head full of half-finished posts.
But I run out of time - and when I finally get fingers to keyboard, the moment has invariably passed.
Today, I've been exploring Hyde Park (I've walked an epic distance in undies rather too small!) and I've seen something really astounding; I've felt a real insight and I've had a think about what it's shown me and I'd like share - but it's half-six now and it'll be half-eight before Isaac's asleep.
And by then, I'll need wine a lot more than I'll need to be clever.
Yeah, that's what I'll do...
I'll do it tomorrow.
